About Chele Gutek: Chele Gutek is a writer and director who recently finished her first novel. She is actively querying agents and wanted a clean website to use as a portfolio for her work. Because she writes both fiction and film, as well as directs, and each format lends itself to different clients, she needed separate pages to highlight each. We used color sparingly, letting the imagery pop and create evocative reflections of her stories.
Highlights
Home page imagery. We created a custom AI image for her home page by combining themes from her stories.
Custom fonts to keep brand awareness. Chele has been working on building her Substack and has put a lot of time and effort into creating a publication page on that platform. Instead of redesigning her Substack to fit a new website, we worked backwards and used font and coloring to match seamlessly with her Substack page. We carried over the unique typewriter font she used to keep a consistent visual identity.
Delineation of work. Chele is at a stage where she's pitching to agents and actively soliciting her work. We wanted to make it easy to send the right page to the relevant person for the pitch, creating separate pages for fiction, screenwriting, and directing.
Colors. The black and white colors were intentionally picked to again stick with the theme of black and white text on a page, which also helped make the images pop and feel more immersive.
